O Garden Lowly Earthly Yet Holy

O garden lowly, earthly yet holy,
Where sacred foot hath trod,
Who hath not known thee, when faith has shown thee,
Where knelt the Son of God?

Father in heaven, should we be given,
Some cup to drink for Thee.
Angels, O send us, strong to defend us,
In our Gethsemane.

If we be led there dark paths to tread there,
O may we willing go,
Humble nor fearing, still persevering,
To drink a cup of woe. [Refrain]

We who have knelt there, surely have felt there
Praying in shadows gray,
God’s promised morrow, bears grief and sorrow,
On angel wings away. [Refrain]
