In lowly patience waiting to pass the threshold o’er:
Shame on us, Christian brothers, His Name and sign who bear,
O shame, thrice shame upon us, to keep Him standing there!
O Jesus, Thou art knocking; and lo, that hand is scarred,
And thorns Thy brow encircle, and tears Thy face have marred:
O love that passeth knowledge, so patiently to wait!
O sin that hath no equal, so fast to bar the gate!
O Jesus, Thou art pleading in accents meek and low,
“I died for you, My children, and will you treat Me so?”

O Jesus, Thou art standing, outside the fast closed door, longing to come in and be with us, to share in our joys and sorrows. You patiently wait for us to open the door of our hearts and invite You in.
It is truly a shame, my Christian brothers and sisters, when we bear Your Name and yet keep You standing there. We proudly wear the sign of Your love and grace, yet we hesitate to let You in. Oh, shame upon us! How can we keep the One who suffered and died for us waiting outside?
Look at His scarred hand, my friends. Those hands that were pierced for our sins are extended towards us in love. Thorns encircle His brow, a reminder of the pain He endured for our salvation. Tears have marred His beautiful face. What a love that surpasses our understanding! He is patiently waiting, despite all the pain and rejection He experienced.
Oh sin, the barrier that keeps us from embracing our Savior, you have no equal! You control us and prevent us from opening the gate of our hearts to Jesus. But He knocks, even on the hardest hearts, offering His love and forgiveness. He longs to enter our lives and bring us peace that surpasses all understanding.
Listen to His pleading, His voice so meek and low. “I died for you, My children, and will you treat Me so?” Oh Lord, with shame and sorrow, we realize the injustice we have done. We now open the door to You, dear Savior, and invite You into our lives. Enter, O Jesus, and may You never leave us again.
As we open the door, we open ourselves to His love, His grace, and His transforming power. He enters our lives, bringing healing to our brokenness, strength to our weakness, and hope to our despair. His presence fills our hearts with a joy that can’t be contained.
Dear friends, let us not keep Jesus standing outside any longer. Let us not let sin control us and keep us from experiencing His love. Let us open the doors of our hearts wide and invite Him in. In doing so, we will not only experience the joy of His presence, but we will also be a testimony to others, showing them the way to salvation.
Imagine a world where every heart’s door is open to Jesus. A world where His love and grace are embraced by all. It is a beautiful vision, and it starts with each one of us. Let us be the ones who break the cycle of shame and open our hearts to Him, allowing His love to flow through us and touch the lives of others.
O Jesus, Thou art standing, waiting for us to respond. May we never keep You waiting again. May we always have open hearts and open doors, inviting You in and allowing Your love to transform us and the world around us. Amen.
