There Is A Gate O Bless The Lord

There is a gate! O bless the Lord,
The way to Eden since the fall
Has not been barred by flaming sword,
Or high impenetrable wall.

Refrain:
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you!
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you!
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you!
Seek, and ye shall find.

There is a gate! O pilgrim soul,
Thy weary journey has an end,-
No keeper there demands a toll;
Who holds the latchet is a friend. [Refrain]

It leads to life-that heav’nly gate,
The life that never knows an end;
It opens on a rich estate,
Where happiness and glory blend. [Refrain]

But few there be that find that gate;
Their own good works turn them aside,
Or else the world extends a bait,
Whose road is broad, whose gate is wide. [Refrain]

It is a strait and narrow gate,
Too strait and narrow for thy sin;
He lays aside his every weight,
Through faith in Christ, who enters in. [Refrain]
