When The Lord Of Life And Glory

When the Lord of life and glory
From the darksome grave arose,
Angels told the joyful story
Of his conquest o’er his foes.

Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Christ the Lord is ris’n today;
From the grave of each disciple,
Lo, the stone is rolled away.

On the first glad Easter Jesus
Rose triumphant from the tomb,
And to us this truth is precious-
He hath scattered far its gloom. [Chorus]

He hath left his gloom prison,
He hath triumphed o’er the grave,
Mortals, sing! your King hath risen;
Christ the Lord is strong to save. [Chorus]

Angels, tell again the story,
Sound it far o’er hill and plain:
Jesus, Lord of life and glory,
Shall return to earth again. [Chorus]
