Who Can The Strength Afford

Who can the strength afford
The helpless soul to aid?
‘Tis He alone, th’Almighty Lord,
By whom the heav’ns were made.

My soul on Him relies,
In Him my spirit lives;
He hears His servant when he cries,
And timely succour gives.

My heart is fixed above,
In Him I rest secure;
My pilgrim feet shall ne’er remove;
His guiding care is sure.

His never-slumbering eye
My onward course attends;
His powerful presence, always nigh,
Form all my foes defends.

He saves my soul from doubt,
From terror, grief, and sin;
His love preserves my going out
And hails my entering in!
