Who Is Jesus Blest – Hymn Lyric
Who is,
Jesus blest,
Like to thee,
sweet Rest!
From the multitude elected,
Life of those who were rejected,
Light, too, brightest, best,
Jesus, dearest Rest!
Life,
who me to save
Enteredst the grave!
For my sins of death hast tasted
All the realms of hell hast wasted,
Life who me to save,
Didst hell’s fury brave.
Majesty most dear,
Mightiest King and Seer,
I will kiss Thy scepter holy,
At Thy feet will sit me lowly,
And like Mary hear;
Majesty most dear!
By Thy Spirit’s rays
Let me know Thy praise;
Thine by faith, may I never perish;
Warm love may I always cherish,
Thine through all my days,
Thou, my beauteous Praise!
When the billows’ might,
In the gloomy night,
With overwhelming weight would wreck me,
Savior, let Thy hand protect me;
Keep me by Thy might,
Guardian of the night.
And when death’s at hand,
Lord, then let me stand:
Through death’s shadows gently bear me,
And for light of bliss prepare me,
That I there may stand,
Lord, at Thy right hand.
Meaning of Who Is Jesus Blest
Who Is Jesus Blest: Exploring the Majesty and Rest Found in Christ
In our journey through life, we often find ourselves searching for peace and rest. We long for someone who can calm our troubled hearts and bring us solace in times of distress. Who, then, can compare to the blessed Jesus? He is the epitome of rest, the one who brings light to those who have been cast aside, and offers the sweetest reprieve from the burdens we carry.
When we think of Jesus, we think of life. He willingly entered the grave, tasting death itself, so that we may be saved. Jesus took upon Himself the weight of our sins and conquered the realms of hell, showing us His power as the Life who came to redeem us. How incredible is it to know that the One who created life itself would be willing to go through such lengths to save us? It is through His sacrifice that we find hope and eternal life.
Jesus is not only the bringer of life, but He is also our King. His majesty is unparalleled, and His wisdom and insight into our lives are unparalleled as well. We are invited to approach Him with reverence and humility, just as we see Mary doing in the scriptures. We are invited to sit at His feet and listen, to soak in His teachings and experiences, and to be transformed by His presence. What a privilege it is to be in the presence of such majesty!
As we draw near to Jesus, we pray that His Spirit will reveal Himself to us in new and profound ways. We long to know Him more intimately, to experience His love and grace on a deeper level. It is through faith that we can truly grasp the magnitude of His love for us, and it is through that same faith that we are assured of never perishing. May we constantly remind ourselves of His faithfulness, so that we may cherish His love throughout all our days.
Life, though precious, can also be filled with storms. Like billows crashing upon us in a gloomy night, the weight of our troubles can threaten to wreck us. In these moments, we cry out to Jesus, begging for His protection and guidance. And just as He protected His disciples from the fierce winds and waves with a simple command, we trust that He will shelter us in His loving arms. He is our guardian in the night, our source of strength and comfort when we feel overwhelmed.
As we face the end of our earthly journey, we find solace in knowing that Jesus will be there with us. Death, that looming shadow that haunts us all, need not fill us with despair. Instead, we can stand boldly before it, knowing that Jesus will gently bear us through its depths. And as we emerge on the other side, we can find assurance in the promise of eternal bliss. Jesus is preparing a place for us, a place where we can stand at His right hand, basking in His glory for all eternity.
In conclusion, who is Jesus blest? He is the source of rest, the giver of life, and the embodiment of majestic love. We are invited to draw near to Him, to experience the peace and solace that only He can offer. May we always seek to know Him more deeply, to trust in His guidance and protection, and to eagerly anticipate the day when we will stand in His presence forever. Jesus, our sweetest Rest, we praise and adore you!
