The Savior Kindly Calls – Hymn Lyric

Jesus, our Savior, lovingly invites children to come to Him and be embraced in His arms. He declares them blessed and desires to have a personal relationship with them. As parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility to bring our children to Jesus, dedicating them to His loving care and teaching them about His love and teachings.

The Savior Kindly Calls – Hymn Lyric

The Savior kindly calls
Our children to His breast;
He folds them in His gracious arms,
Himself declares them blest.

“Let them approach,” He cries,
“Nor scorn their humble claim;
The heirs of Heav’n are such as these,
For such as these I came.”

With joy we bring them, Lord,
Devoting them to Thee,
Imploring that, as we are Thine,
Thine may our offspring be.

Meaning of The Savior Kindly Calls

The Savior Kindly Calls: Embracing the Love of Jesus for Children

Have you ever felt a warm embrace from someone who loves you? That feeling of safety and comfort can make you feel like nothing else in the world matters. Well, did you know that Jesus, our Savior, wants to give us that same loving embrace?

In a beautiful hymn, it says, “The Savior kindly calls, our children to His breast; He folds them in His gracious arms, Himself declares them blest.” Wow! Just imagine, Jesus, the Son of God, wants us, His children, to come to Him and be held in His loving arms. It’s like He is saying, “Come, my child, don’t be afraid. I am here for you.”

Sometimes, we might feel like we are too small or unimportant for Jesus to notice us. But that’s not true! The hymn goes on to say, “Let them approach,” He cries, “Nor scorn their humble claim; The heirs of Heav’n are such as these, For such as these I came.” Jesus loves each and every one of us, no matter how old or young we are. In fact, He specifically mentions children as being precious in His eyes, because they have a special place in His heart.

Knowing that Jesus wants us to come to Him with humble hearts, shouldn’t we bring our children to Him as well? In the hymn, we are encouraged to bring our children to the Lord and dedicate them to His loving care. We ask that as we belong to Jesus, our offspring may also be His. We want our children to experience the same love and blessings that come from knowing Jesus.

When we bring our children to Jesus, we are entrusting them to the One who created them and knows them best. We are asking Him to guide and protect them, to lead them on the path of righteousness, and to bless them with His divine grace. What a wonderful gift to give our children!

But how do we bring our children to Jesus? It starts with teaching them about His love and His teachings. We can read stories from the Bible together, like the ones where Jesus welcomes children and blesses them. We can pray with our children, letting them know that Jesus is always listening and eager to hear their innocent and heartfelt prayers.

We can also encourage our children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Just as we talk to our friends and family, we can teach our children to talk to Jesus as their friend. They can share their joys, fears, and hopes with Him. They can ask Him for guidance and seek comfort in His love.

Another way to bring our children to Jesus is by surrounding them with a community of faith. This can be done by regularly attending a church or a Sunday school where they can learn more about Jesus’ teachings and be surrounded by other individuals who share their faith. In these environments, our children can feel supported and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

As parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility to help nurture our children’s faith. We can lead by example, showing them what it means to live a life dedicated to Jesus. Our actions and words should reflect His teachings of love, compassion, forgiveness, and service to others.

In conclusion, the hymn “The Savior Kindly Calls” reminds us of Jesus’ love for children. He invites them to come to Him, to experience His embrace, and to be blessed as the heirs of Heaven. As parents and caregivers, it is our privilege to introduce our children to Jesus, to dedicate them to His loving care, and to teach them how to have a personal relationship with Him. Let’s bring our children to Jesus, allowing them to experience the joy and peace that come from knowing Him.
